 Isaiah 61

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
Because the Lord has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners;

SEEK, HIDE, WAIT, AND TRUST (Part 3)

Updated: Apr 20, 2018

In my last couple blogs we have discussed the fact that seeking and hiding/abiding are key elements in maintaining our relationship.

Another key is waiting. This key is probably one of the hardest keys.

HOW DO WE MAINTAIN A RELATIONSHIP GOD?

BY SEEKING, HIDING, AND WAITING.

PSALM 27

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;

Whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the defense of my life;

Whom shall I dread?

2 When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh,

My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though a host encamp against me,

My heart will not fear;

Though war arise against me,

In spite of this I shall be confident.

4 One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek:

That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,

To behold the beauty of the Lord

And to meditate in His temple.

5 For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle;

In the secret place of His tent He will hide me;

He will lift me up on a rock.

6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,

And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy;

I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice,

And be gracious to me and answer me.

8 When You said, “ Seek My face,” my heart said to You,

“Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.”

9 Do not hide Your face from me,

Do not turn Your servant away in anger;

You have been my help;

Do not abandon me nor forsake me,

O God of my salvation!

10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,

But the Lord will take me up.

11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,

And lead me in a level path

Because of my foes.

12 Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries,

For false witnesses have risen against me,

And such as breathe out violence.

13 I would have despaired unless I had believed

that I would see the goodness of the Lord

In the land of the living.

14 WAIT for the Lord;

Be strong and let your heart take courage;

Yes, WAIT for the Lord.

Our ability to wait on the Lord comes from being confident and focused on who He is and in what He is doing.

Confidence in His wisdom, His love, His understanding, and His timing.

It means knowing and trusting in God’s power, promises, and purposes.

WAIT = to remain in a state in which you expect or hope that something will happen soon.

THROUGH OUT THE PSALMS WE SEE DAVID’S GREAT CONFIDENCE AND HIS AFFIRMATION OF WHO GOD IS TO HIM AND WHAT HE IS WAITING FOR AND EXPECTING GOD TO DO.

Psalm 52:8-9

But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever. 9 I will give Thee thanks forever, because Thou hast done it, And I will WAIT on Thy name, for it is good, in the presence of Thy godly ones.

Psalm 62:1-2 & 5-8

My soul WAITS in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. 2 He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold;

5 My soul, WAITS in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. 7 On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. 8 Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Psalm 37:7-9 Rest in the LORD and WAIT patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret, it leads only to evildoing. 9 For evildoers will be cut off, But those who WAIT for the LORD, they will inherit the land.

Psalm 39:7 And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in Thee.

NOT ONLY DO WE LIVE IN A FAST PACED GIVE ME WHAT I WANT RIGHT NOW WORLD,

THERE'S IS ALSO NOT ALOT OF WAITING AND THERE IS ALOT OF PEOPLE TAKING MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS INSTEAD OF ALLOWING GOD TO MOVE.

DAVIDS CONFIDENCE CAME FROM SEEKING GOD WITH HIS HEART

8 When You said, “ Seek My face,” my HEART said to You,

“Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.”

DAVID HAD ONETHING THAT HE ASK

HE WANTED TO dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life,

To behold the beauty of the Lord

And to meditate in His temple.

DAVID WAITED BECAUSE HE BELIEVED

13 I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

DAVID GIVES THE INSTRUCTION TO WAIT

14 WAIT for the Lord;

Be strong and let your heart take courage;

Yes, WAIT for the Lord.

LET FOLLOW DAVID‘S (THE MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART) INSTRUCTION.

LET’S SEEK GOD’S PRESENCE LET’S HIDE IN HIM AND LET’S WAIT WITH GREAT EXPECTATION THAT WE WILL SEE THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING.

Lamentations 3:25 The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him.

FATHER TEACH OUR HEARTS TO WAIT ON YOU, TO BE STRONG AND TO TAKE COURAGE.

TO WAIT IN YOUR PRESENCE, AND TO EXPECT YOUR GOODNESS BECAUSE YOU ARE GOOD.

IT’S JUST WHO YOUR ARE, A GOOD GOOD FATHER.
